Ashna is a registered counsellor and founder of Mangrove Counselling Co.
With a masters degree in Counselling and a background in Psychology, Ashna has worked in the field of mental health for over 10 years, most recently working as a trauma counsellor in the community sector. Ashna works with adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, childhood abuse & neglect. She is also passionate about working with couples who are seeking support with communication, conflict, separation, co-parenting, infidelity and non-traditional relationships.
Furthermore, Ashna is happy to offer a space to individuals navigating through neurodivergence, questioning their gender identity or those wanting to explore and rediscover their authentic selves after a loss or big life transition.
In her free time, Ashna loves to spend time in nature with her two dogs, practice yoga, curl up with a good book or watch the sunset.
Using a trauma-informed and intersectional lens, Ashna's method of working uses a person-centred and strength-based approach. Ashna has received formal tertiary-level training in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, with additional certifications in the Phased-based Approach for Treating Complex Trauma, Internal Family Systems, Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
